Do you have…

•  Experience in completing full, comprehensive assessments, Specialist Palliative Care knowledge
•  Post Grad qualifications in Palliative Care or similar
•  Proven ability to effectively liaise with other health professionals and multi-disciplinary teams
•  Experience working within a multi-cultural environment with particular appreciation of tikanga Maori and the importance of whanau involvement in the delivery of Palliative Care.

Totara Hospice South Auckland (THSA) is a supportive and caring organisation, providing palliative care services to patients and their families/whanau living in the South Auckland area. This is an exciting opportunity to join the THSA team and make a difference in people’s lives by supporting them through what can be a challenging time.

We are seeking an experienced specialist Palliative Care Registered Nurse. Primarily the role is Community-based supporting our South and South East Auckland patients, and may also include the Inpatient Unit.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Providing nursing interventions based on comprehensive assessment and own sound knowledge and skill
• Liaising with other health professionals, working alongside the multidisciplinary team to provide the best support for patients and their families/whanau
• Communicating and practice nursing in a manner that empowers the patient
• Undertaking comprehensive nursing assessments in partnership with patients and families/whanau and develop, implement and evaluate an integrated plan of care
• Monitoring and evaluating response to patient treatment
• Understanding and accepting Hospice philosophy as a normal standard of practice and demonstrate a commitment to Totara Hospice South Auckland

You will need to have a current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate as a registered nurse, have a full and clean drivers licence.
